Topic: Cleaning the racket handle Posted: 11/26/2015 at 1:37am
I have noticed that when my racket was new, it would absorb sweat quite well and wouldn't slip at all. But now that I've used it for several months, the feel of the handle as completely changed and it has become less absorbent and more slippery. Is there a way to remove the dirty and hand oil that the handle absorbs?
I don't care about the looks, I just don't want to have to use a grip wrap...

I use grips on all my blades, it does balance the blade better

Why in bob's name would I put it near a heat source?! The handle is dry, but it has become slick because of all the oil from my hand and from the dirt left behind by dry sweat. I want to get rid of the oil and dirt so it absorbent again. By doing that, it should slip less.
I imagine steam cleaning it could work, though.

Water and wood are a bad mix. Best not to get extra water into the blade.
Try cleaning off the tooth paste with alcohol - cheap stuff you get in the dollar type store. It will evaporate without getting absorbed into the wood.
