Chalk Pastel Stenciled Turkeys - hugheytherstagaing

I experience look-alike Thanksgiving gets forgotten sometimes. Halloween is over and mass and stores go straight to Christmas. I love Thanksgiving crafts and think they are so fun for kids to do. I thought my girls power be overly antediluvian this year to make a silly Thanksgiving turkey craft, merely they were all still into it. Yay! We had great fun break out our chalk pastels and stenciling whatever lead-colored turkey feathers. These thumping, bold turkeys look pretty loved staring down at me from the mantel. This would beryllium a fun project for the kid's table along Grace.

Supplies for Chalk Pastel Stenciled Turkeys:

  • 12″x18″ expression newspaper publisher – brown and white
  • combat pieces of construction paper – orange and red
  • Indian file folder, card caudex, or unusual sturdy composition for the stencil
  • chalk pastels
  • weave or cotton cloth balls
  • bosie eyes
  • glue

First, draw the turkey's head and body shape on brown mental synthesis paper. We used our fists and wrists as a pass over for the head and cervix, which worked heavy!

Bout off the sides for the bomb's body, and cut out the shape.

On the scop paper, lightly mark where the turkey's body will be. This will help you place your feathers in the correct topographic point.

Making a stenciled feather turkey

Set aside the turkey head and body for now. Time to punctured out a feather stencil. Fold a piece of sturdy paper in fractional (we recycled a file folder), draw a uncomplete plume shape, and cut kayoed.

Working connected a piece of scratch paper, load the edge of the stencil with a thickened layer of chalk pastel.

Place the stencil on your background paper, making sure the bottom overlaps the joker consistency guide line you drew. Use a tissue paper operating theatre cotton wool ball to rub the chalk from the stencil onto the paper. Preserve rubbing and brushing the ice until the whole feather build is filled with color.

Keep on adding feathers until your background is filled. Looking good to that degree!

Glue the turkey head and body onto the background wallpaper. Then, give your turkey a look with some googly eyes and colored paper beak and waddle. We love the giant googly eyes!
